Gears of a boring age (sigh)

Well the first time i got gears of war i was overjoyed,loved it.I did the main story till its hearts content.Then a few weeks ago i went back online with it and all that was there was shotgun this and shotgun that.I found it very boring and now i cant help but say:''is this game way repeadative and dull or is the shotgun the biggest waste of time on gears''????Gears of a boring age (sigh)

I agree. I played through the single player game so many times..atleast 6. Though not all back to back, spanned out in a month or two period. Then went and played a decent amount of online (20 or so hours) and enjoyed it. However I was almost always frustrated with the shotgun. After I got bored and quit playing for some time and got back on about a week ago. While I had fun, mainly because I liked the people I was playing with and against. I found that the only weapon that had use was the shotgun or grenades. While melee works, playing against someone who is ''okay'' at using the shotgun makes everything else useless. The sniper is nice still, and thankfully just as fun to play with but it is only useful in specific situations, as with the bow. Boomshot is nice, but because of its ammo capacity I found it less then useful unless you and your team actually work together. As fun as the game still is, it is far to reliant on the shotty IMO.
If you don't like it, don't play. Simple as.These Gears hating threads are getting seriously dull now. 
I love playing Gears of War online but I have to be honest the shotgun does seem a little bit strong.

  so far  Gears of war is still the best in xbox360 i loved it well even though.. i done it in insane mode still i repeated to play this game..dont play if u dont want %26 feel boring.. huh! 
  It still gets my blood pumping, I only recently started playing ranked so there is more incentive to pick up other weapons as there are achievements to be had, I'm currently working on my boomshot achievement. I do however like the shotty/lancer combo for warzone the best, I played an excellent Raven Down a couple of nights ago which is the biggest shotgun fest there is and I have to say I have more fun when people aren't scared to mash in the middle of the map as opposed to cowering in a dark corner for the duration of the round.  Fact is simple, if you hate shotgun/don't know how to use it Gears probably isn't your game.

Gears isn't the best game on the X360. Its the game with the best graphics. You take that away, there is little else. I own the game and I use the disc as a coaster while I'm playing C %26 C3, Halo 2, or RS:V or Oblivion. Plus, maybe gears 2 will have more than 8 players online in a match next time.
i LOVE Gears online, however it just boring with the constant shotguning and stuff. THe game wasnt actually made for shotguning, it was made so you hide behind cover and shoot people with the lancer. It's soppose to be a strategic game. Now all it is, is to go to the middle and shoot at each other with shotguns.

People,if you dont like gears dont play it.I think I understand u people,u hate this game cuz u suck,and you r angry seeing that everybody else is better than you.Stop playing.

It was found out that it is likely you would get more kills doing it that way so people started to doing, it is strategy to move on to do that, just not the kind you would like to see. The lancer battles aren't the best thing to do anyway since they can go on forever if you just shoot and duck and the other person does the same. People have complained about every weapon in the game and this is just another one of those. If its not the shotgun, its the chainsaw or frag tagging. It seems people are only happy if you use a lancer and they win. :wink:
The shotgun is a strong weapon, but you don't have fight with a shotie. Now if you get a team who works as a team, you can really own the guys using the shoties. This is how. 1. Grab the sniper. (Set your sniper up in a key location of the map, leave him there) 2. take two guys with you and gain a major point of the map, where you can see most of the action. 3.When you see the enemy stay behind cover and shoot, do not go strait for them, they will advance to you. as they are advancing, have two pull on suppressive fire, as you try to gain a backwards flank. 4.When you are at range for the backwards flank tell one of your men to advance, he may die, but if you do this fast enough you can chain saw one guy, while your team mate who is still on cover shoots the third guy, and the guy who is rushing your rusher, will be in a firefight, but you will have the better position to win.

I mean if the game was played like it is in single player, that might be fun, but it's not and it's repetitive and a boring mess. I don't know why people think running around in circles with a shotgun is fun.

the main weapon in the game is the shotgun, it woulda been better if they had more weapons other than just the sniper, boom, bow, and hammer. if u can come up with a gun w/ a chainsaw u can come up wit way more creative weapons. I hope when the nest one comes, that u dont have to soley rely on the shotgun in close combat. a knife would be nice.
