I have recently bought my 360 and have read alot of things about people having problems with them, this is quite worrying because I have spent alot of money on this machine and I don't like that it's unstable. I mean honestly what are the chances of my 360 breaking down on me, I have read so many articles from people who say that there xbox's have just broken and now every time I play on it I worry that I am going to see those dreaded read lights indicating that my machine is bust.I only have the core system, do I need to be worried about my machine? Worried About 360
yeah dude u need 2 be really worried mine juss got the 3 rings of death , n it scratched my gears of war n saints row disc, omg ohh well.....Worried About 360
will someone please say something about this? I mean I really m considering taking it back if I am going to encounter problems with it.
warrenty.
dude just get the warranty and maybe you'll be good but the warranty dont cover the games for x box 360 games so tough luck n dun get me wrong , i got a new 360 from microsoft but it took 4 ever to get it back...
Mines fine. Just don't stand it up vertically. I think if it is verticle it may increase the chance of a scratch. And put the system ina well ventilated area so that it won't overheat. so, like put it in an airconditioned room or put a fan in front of it. I dont but it will reduce the overheating problem. And I think there is a cooler that you can attatch to the 360. and if you can't do any of those just don't play it for a long time because if it is played for a long time it will get very hot.
so what Im getting so far is that I should probably expect it to breakdown? It seems really shoddy that you pay so much money for something that is so poorly put together, I mean why should I have to buy an extra fn, if it needs cooling that much then it should come with the equiptment to keep it cool. It seems to me like 360 is a poor pice of kit, I really am considering taking it back now and just not bothering with it.
Take it back. There's no point in having it if your gonna be worried about it everytime you turn it on.

is there anyone here who hasn;t had problems, I mean is it common ?
if you just bought it then youre probably alright. they fixed the overheating problem with the newer generation consoles
had mine since xmas, no problems WHATSOEVER. one of my friends has had his since feb.06, no problems WHATSOEVER. and to the other poster, vertical is JUST fine, i had mine vertical for a few months, no problems.dont worry about it
No lie, theres probably a 30% chance it will break, but if it breaks within the first year you get a free repair, and of course you can get a warranty. To me the games are worth the chance of breaking, but thats just me.
will someone please say something about this? I mean I really m considering taking it back if I am going to encounter problems with it.
Let's just say I'm on number 3, and I take perfect care of my consoles. I still love the 360 to death though.
I have had my 360 for several months now, i play it all the time, and because of my slow DSL (256k up and down) i am forced to leave it on for prolonged amounts of time. There are days where i leave it on in excess of 14 hours at a time in order to download demos off of XBL. I have yet to encounter a problem of any kind. also, i keep my 360 in a vertical position with a $10 base cooler.
Don't worry about it, quite a few X-Boxes have broken, but Microsoft now has a 2 year warranty on the 360, so if yours ever breaks theyll replace it.
Don't worry about it, quite a few X-Boxes have broken, but Microsoft now has a 2 year warranty on the 360, so if yours ever breaks theyll replace it.
It's actually only one year. You have to pay to extend it to two years.
mine just broke (purchased in february), maybe because i played it like 6 hours a day (average, sometimes much more, sometimes less) and it was near a wood door, so it wasnt so good ventilatedthat was the reason i guess, anyway i love the games on 360, Gears, Lost planet, viva piƱata and the halo series are my favorite games of this generation, i cant change my 360 for other console for this reasonanyway i have the target 3 years warranty :)so i dont need to worry about it
I have had my Xbox 360 since April of 2006. It has been in the vertical position the whole time. I play it quite frequently, and use it as a DVD player. Not a single problem. As with all new generation systems (X360 or PS3), you gotta allow for some room for the unit to ventilate. These high powered processors run at high temps, and need the room to move air. Getting a cheap cooler does help too, if you are really concerned about the heat issue. Just use some common sense... its really not that hard.
wellI got my first xbox360 for christmas. My dad got it at walmart. The instant i turned it on it had the three rings of death. I took it back and got another one. I took it out of the box and immediatly noticed the power button was broken. I carried it back and the one i got in return is fine. Three times a charm?
