Hey I think I've got a solution for the overheating. I had a Nyko Intercooler and found out it voids warrenty and that it ruins your 360. Also, the Pelican fan stand is forcing to keep the 360 standing up which will scratch the discs. So, I decided to get a small, regular fan and place it in front of my 360. It works by colling my 360, but I wanted to know if it's a good idea to you people.Overheating Solution?
I have few to zero scratches on any of my discs, and I use it vertical. The fan stand is more than enough to calm my nerves, too. For 10 bucks, it's a steal. The fan won't do anything but cool the case.Overheating Solution?
Standing up your 360 WON'T ruin disks... moving it while it's running will.
Yeah putting the fan right by my 360 was the first idea I tried because I got mine last summer. My very first idea was dumping ice water over it, but didn't try it...

Question... how do you overheat the 360? I'm curious, because our 360 is currently under a TV stand. We have a JVC wide screen TV, then under the stand, I have my Wii (Not plugged in) and then under the ''Wii shelf'' I have the 360 with (as far as I know) plenty of air to breath in and we sometimes play up to 10 hours a day and we have no problems whatsoever, except the occassional crash.
Egad! Where do you find this cheap fan?
Target. It's on e of those $9 fans you put on your desk.
Egad! Where do you find this cheap fan?
Placing a fan infront of your 360 will not help it. If the fan is powerful enough it will simply cool your faceplate and help get the hot air coming out the back of the 360 away from the system faster. It won't help cool the components. That's why people made the intercooler because it helps to suck in more air which then goes over the heat syncs in the system. I don't recommend the intercooler but that's what it does. Keep your 360 well ventilated.. if you want to use a fan i suggest pointing it towards the back of the 360 to help blow the hot air away from the system if your really concerned about the heat. Less heat by the system makes it less likely to get any warmer
I stick a couple of ice packs in fabric sleeves and then set them behind my 360and on top of the back. It allows less air to escape, but the air that does not escape is cooled by the ice packs , and that air cools the rest of the inernals.
Interesting setup. However wouldn't it also be good to add that to the sides (if your 360 is lying horizontally). Because that's the air intake so you'd cool the incoming air. At the back you're simply cooling the exhaust air which would likely help keep the surounding area cool for the 360 but i don't think it would do too much for actually cooling the system
